Kazakhstan Branch Campus of NPU is located in the KazNU campus. In May 2023, during the China Asia Summit, under the joint witness of the heads of state of China and Kazakhstan, Northwestern Polytechnical University and Ali Farabi Kazakh National University signed a cooperation framework agreement to jointly build Northwestern Polytechnical University Kazakhstan Branch.

On October 12, 2023, on the eve of the "Belt and Road" International Cooperation Summit Forum, the opening ceremony of the branch was held in Almaty. The first batch of 14 students received admission notices, and the Kazakhstan branch of Northwestern Polytechnical University was officially opened.

To date, master programs have been launched in three majors: Material Science, Information and Communication Engineering, and Computer Science and Technology, which are the best or among the best majors in discipline in China.
